At the end of Term 3 the "Tournament of the Minds" shield was presented to Taree Public School for being the school that had won the most competitions over a 20 year period, 5 in all.
Tournament of Minds, now an International competition, Is a problem solving programme for teams of students from both Primary and Secondary years. Students are required to solve demanding, open-ended challenges from various disciplines, with Mrs Gail Lay (teacher) and the Taree Public students opting to participate in the Maths Engineering discipline. We hope that in future years our students will again find the level of success that the previous teams did.
It was exciting to see the shield returned to a place of honour, and brought back many fond memories of competition for a number of the teachers, as well as prior students whose children now attend the school.
This was the scenario for our students Milly and Bailey, whose mother and uncle had both competed successfully in the "Tournament of the Minds" when they attended Taree Public School.
